Professor Gilles Dreyfus, Cardiac Surgeon
Introduction to Gilles Dreyfus
As a cardiac surgeon, I operate all types of pathologies and am particularly interested in the correctional surgery of the mitral and tricuspid valves, I established the minimally invasive surgery of the aortic valve, and started the development of circulatory support as an alternative to definitive transplantation by using the JARVIK 2000 heart with an electrical outlet permanently implanted behind the ear, which prevents any risk of infection.
From the early 80s up to the early 2000s I had practiced cardiac surgery in Parisian hospitals (Broussais, Foch) alongside various renowned specialists. During the decade that followed, I assumed the role as director of surgery and transplants at the prestigious London hospital complex, London Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust. Since 2010, I have been the Medical Director at the Cardo-Thoracic Center of Monaco.
